| THE MLPC NEWSLETTER |
Our Newsletter is published twice yearly in June and December. Deadline for copy is 15th May and 15th November.
It covers the following areas:
News and information of events, meetings, conferences etc which are organized by MLPC. For example the February 2002 Burgh House lecture Adam Phillips gave a fascinating personal account of his clinical, cultural and biographical experiences as a psychotherapist.
Items of interest from the psychoanalytic world in general especially on the cultural overlap between analysis and literature, art, music, world events.
Conference reports. For example, in May 2001 we hosted an international conference with the Freud Museum on issues of Lost Childhood, translation, loss of mother tongue, exile and the refugee experience. The recent newsletter featured a report on the Paris Conference on Une Mere, Une Terre, Une Langue - Mother, Language and Country.
Areas of intellectual interest with connections to multi-lingual psychotherapy, to provide a serious exploration and debate of current issues. Recent issues have featured Psychoanalysis and Culture at the millenium, perspectives on paranoia and persecution, Social Dreaming, Race, Language and cultural imperialism, psychoanalytic responses to the Twin Towers disaster and so on.
Free associations, jokes, gossip, or any other comments would be most welcome.
Book reviews, film, art exhibition or theatre reviews are also some of the things we would like to extend in the Newsletter, so do let us have contributions no matter how short.
