| INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES |
'Lost Childhood and the Language of Exile', held in May 2001, was organised jointly by the Freud Museum and Imago MLPC and was the second of three major conferences to be held in Budapest, London and Paris focusing on the theme of Mother-tongue and Other Tongues. It was organised as part of the European Year of Languages and supported by UNESCO.
With over 200 participants and over 20 speakers from across the world, a musical evening and a film the weekend was huge success. Lectures and discussions explored the themes of personal journeys, unconscious metaphors, psychotherapy in translation, 'father tongue', the language of dreams and the search for a meaningful personal narrative.
Papers from the London Conference together with some papers from the Budapest conference were published in "Lost Childhood and the Language of Exile" featured on the Home page of this website.
