A one-day workshop designed for mental health professionals, counsellors and psychotherapists interested in understanding the response to change and trauma using the refugee experience and journey as a model. The training also enables participants to deal more effectively and realistically with the issues facing refugees.
The basic aim of this training is to use a model of the refugee experience to discuss and elaborate the psychic response to change, separation and loss. Such a response will touch on the use of various psychological defences at different stages of the journey.

A one-day workshop designed for therapists interested in understanding the response to change and trauma using the refugee experience and journey as a model. The one day training also enables participants to deal more effectively and realistically with the issues facing refugees.
This intensive and challenging training is aimed at those professionals who would like to gain a deeper and dynamic understanding of the challenges of change, loss and separation through the refugee experience. It creates a space for experiencing, reflecting and learning from within oneself. It is designed to enable participants to 'think' and become aware of their own internal process when faced with almost impossible choices.
The training itself is emotionally challenging and participants who have had a refugee experience may need to speak to the organisers of the event before making a booking.
The basic aim of this training is to use a model of the refugee experience to discuss and elaborate the psychic response to separation, loss and trauma. Such a response will touch on the use of various psychological defences at different stages of the journey.
